EAC is an African regional body/continental body formed in year 1999 consisting of 6 countries whose mission is to strengthen the ties between the members through a common market, a common customs tariff, and a range of public services to achieve balanced economic growth within the region. |

It was established on 30th November 1999 in Kampala, Uganda. The secretariat is based in Arusha, Tanzania. The highest decision making structure is the Council of Ministers and meets once annually. |
